The M-1861 Chaplain Frock Coat is a single breasted officer coat made of finer grade, officer quality black Blazer wool. The coat body, sleeves, and skirt are lined in black cotton. The skirt is hemmed. The 9-button front. The functional cuff has 3 smaller black buttons. The back of the skirt is split and has 6 buttons. There are pockets in the folds of the skirt. The coat has an inside breast pocket. This coat is appropriate for the Confederate, Union, and Civilian Chaplain. Per the Revised US Army Regulations of 1861, General Orders 108 December 16, 1861 REVISED REGULATIONS 131. The uniform for Chaplains of the Army will be plain black frock coat with standing collar, and one row of nine black buttons, plain black pantaloons. black felt hat, or army forage cap, without ornament.
